Privacy policy

Runway is a financial projection calculator for households, owned and run by Digital Craftsmen Solutions (ABN 52 818 821 580) (“we”, “us”). This policy says what personal information we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and what you can ask of us. We handle it under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. “Personal information” means what that Act means: information or an opinion about you, true or not, from which you can reasonably be identified.

The short version: we ask for figures, not identity; your plan is stored in Australia; we don’t sell your information or show you advertising; and you can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.

What we collect

• Your email address, to sign you in and to write to you about your account.
• Your plan: the figures you enter (income, spending, balances, super, property values, loans), the names you give people and items, each person’s year of birth, the state a property is in, your milestones, rules and settings, and any balances you record over time.
• A property’s address, only if you type one. It is a label for you: we never look it up, send it to anyone or record it in logs.
• Billing records: whether you are on Plus, your renewal date, and a customer reference from our payment processor. Your card details go straight to the processor; we never see or hold them.
• What you write to us: messages through Help or by email, and what you type into Ask Runway.
• A friend’s email address, if you ask us to send them an invitation. We use it to send that one email and don’t keep it. We record that an account came from your link, not who it is.
• Technical information: your IP address and browser in our servers’ logs, and counts of how the app is used. Our logs and usage figures hold no money amounts, names, addresses or email addresses, and usage figures identify an account only by a scrambled code.

We don’t ask for your tax file number, bank or super account numbers, your employer, or your full date of birth, and you shouldn’t enter them. You can use Runway under any name you like in a plan.

A household plan usually holds other people’s figures too: a partner’s income and super, a child’s year of birth. Enter them only with that person’s knowledge. They can ask us about what we hold, the same as you.

How we use it

To run Runway for you: to sign you in, save your plan so it opens on any device, work out your projection, take payment for Plus, answer your questions, send the emails your account needs (a welcome, and notices about Plus starting, ending or your account being deleted), keep the service secure, and find out which parts of the app are used so we can improve it. We don’t use your information for advertising, we don’t sell or rent it to anyone, and neither we nor Anthropic trains an AI model on your plan or on what you type into Ask Runway.

We send no marketing email. If that changes, we’ll ask you first, and every such email will let you stop them with one click.

Who helps us run Runway

We use these service providers, each only for its part:

• Amazon Web Services hosts the app and stores your account and plan, in Sydney.
• Supabase handles sign-in and holds your email address, in Sydney.
• Stripe takes payments for Plus and holds your billing details. Stripe may process them outside Australia, including in the United States.
• Anthropic reads what you type into Ask Runway to fill in a form, in the United States. It receives that text and what the task needs, not the figures in your plan, and it does not train its models on it.
• Our email provider sends sign-in codes and account emails.
• Cloudflare hosts this website, and Google Fonts serves its fonts, so both see your IP address when you visit it.

Where a provider handles information outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to the standard the Australian Privacy Principles require. We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it, for example to a court or a regulator. If Runway is sold or passes to another business, your information goes with it, still under this policy, and we’ll email you first.

Cookies and storage

This website sets no cookies and runs no tracking or advertising scripts. The app stores a few things in your browser to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, hold a plan you keep only on this device, and remember an invitation or affiliate code until you sign up. Clearing your browser’s site data signs you out.

Keeping it safe

Information travels encrypted and is stored encrypted. Each account can reach only its own plans. Only the people who run Runway can reach its systems; our own tools for running it show accounts and billing, never what is in a plan, and record each change made with them. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and plan until you delete them. Delete account, on the account page, removes your account, plan, balances, settings and sign-in within two days; copies in our backups are gone within 35 days. We keep billing and tax records for as long as the law requires, and messages you sent us for as long as we need them to help you.

Seeing and correcting your information

Almost everything we hold about you is in the app for you to see, change or export. The Australian Privacy Principles (12 and 13) also let you ask for anything else we hold about you, and ask us to correct it: write to info@getmyrunway.com. It costs nothing. We’ll answer within 30 days, and we may need to confirm it’s you first. If the law lets us refuse, we’ll tell you why in writing.

Questions and complaints

Write to info@getmyrunway.com and tell us what happened. The person who runs Runway reads every privacy complaint; we may ask you for more detail, and we’ll reply within 30 days with what we found and what we’ll do about it. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Runway is for adults

Runway is for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly hold an account for anyone younger; if we find one, we delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
